ReFIT (Remodeling for Independence Together) is an Oregon nonprofit organization, providing no-cost home accessibility modifications for neighbors facing both physical and financial barriers in the greater Portland area.
For many homeowners, a single step, a narrow doorway, or an unsafe bathroom can mean isolation, injury, or the risk of losing the home they love. ReFIT changes that. We install wheelchair ramps, grab bars, accessible bathrooms, widened doorways, and other critical modifications that restore safety, dignity, and independence.
Since 1997, our work has been powered by a community of compassionate volunteers, contractors, partners, donors, and advocates who believe everyone deserves to feel safe at home. Join us in creating safer homes and stronger communities.
Who We Are
Founded in 1997, ReFIT grew from a family tragedy into a community-driven mission to restore independence for neighbors across Greater Portland, living with mobility challenges.

Every $1 donated allows us to provide $3 in services. Sign up for our ReFITTers donor program or make a one-time tax-deductible contribution.
Purchase Materials
Donate new or unused building materials like nails, lumber, grab bars, sinks, and toilets, so that we can serve more clients.
Help Run the Show
Become a sponsor, join a committee, or apply to be a Board of Director to help spearhead success for our clients in need.
