Why was ReFIT started?

In 1996, a Portland-area contractor’s son suffered a spinal cord injury that left him wheelchair bound. Local remodelers volunteered to modify his home, and through that experience they realized an unmet need in the greater community.   Read more about the ReFIT Story

What is at the heart of ReFIT’s mission?

For someone suffering mobility issues related to illness, injury or aging, there is always a fear of no longer being able to live at home.  At ReFIT Portland, we make it our mission to offer hope to those members of our community who desire to stay in their homes with independence and dignity.  Read more about Who We Help.

If I have a physical disability, do I automatically qualify for ReFIT services?

How does ReFIT decide which projects to accept?

Can I call ReFIT to come out and fix my leaky roof?

No. ReFIT does not offer home repair services.  What we do offer is home modification services to those who qualify based upon physical and financial need.  Read more about the kinds of services ReFIT can provide.
