What is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a “global generosity movement” that inspires and encourages people to do good. Started in 2012 by 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, this refreshingly new event allows for people to connect with and give back to nonprofit organizations worldwide.
In 2020 in the United States alone, during the COVID-19 pandemic, GivingTuesday raised $2.47 billion dollars in online donations. That’s a 25% increase in donations compared to GivingTuesday 2019.
Instead of spending money on materialistic things on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, give an act of generosity to families and communities in need.
When is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday happens every year on the 1st Tuesday following Thanksgiving weekend.
This year, it will be all day on November 30th, 2021.
